In Sri Lanka, scam victims’ money moves through rented bank accounts in minutes, while compliance teams at digital banks and finance companies are often just two or three people with hundreds of alerts a week.
MuleTrace sorts the alerts, follows the money across accounts, and drafts the suspicious transaction report for the FIU, with every sentence linked to the transaction behind it. The analyst always makes the final call.
The project began at a Google AI hackathon in the banking and financial services track. It is now a working prototype on synthetic data, and we are looking for institutions to pilot it.

How did MuleTrace start?
MuleTrace started as an entry to a Google AI hackathon in the banking, financial services and insurance track. The prototype was built on Gemini and Google Cloud.
Is MuleTrace “the first” AI tool for STR drafting?
No. Global vendors already use AI to help draft suspicious activity reports. MuleTrace is built specifically for Sri Lankan institutions and small teams, with a shared mule network and an in-country deployment plan.
